Anne Desmet - Urban Evolution: Anne Desmet was invited by the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, UK, (a significant museum of historical and contemporary art and artefacts, belonging to the University of Manchester) to show new work on architectural themes that stemmed from the idea of Urban Evolution. The exhibition was held from April - August 2008 where it was seen by over 33,000 visitors and generated much media interest. It is now touring other museums and galleries throughout the UK. A special feature of the exhibition is her latest works based on the impressive Victoria Swimming Baths in Manchester, winner of BBC TV's Restoration series. This major solo exhibition was at the Whitworth Gallery from 11 April - 3 August 2008 see: www.whitworth.manchester.ac.uk before touring to Hart Gallery, London, from 6-26 November 2008; the School of Art Museum & Gallery, Aberystwyth, from 5 December 2008 - 23 January 2009; Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate, from 31 January - 29 March 2009; Gainsborough's House, Sudbury, Suffolk, from 4 April - 4 July 2009; and Cornerstone Gallery, Hope University, Liverpool, from 8 October - 13 November 2009. British Museum exhibition: Anne Desmet was one of only three invited contemporary artists whose Babel Tower images were featured in the British Museum's recent, memorable exhibition: 'Babylon: Myth and Reality' (showing from 2008-9). In conjunction with the exhibition, she presented a lecture at the Museum about her Babel Tower imagery and its sources of inspiration. See: British Museum

Prizes
Anne Desmet won prizes for two of her printed collages at Originals07 - Britain's foremost National Open Print Exhibition - at London's Mall Galleries in February 2007. She went on to win another prize for a wood engraving at Originals08. See www.mallgalleries.org.uk
 
Anne Desmet won a major prize at the Miniprint Finland Exhibition at Lahti Art Museum, Finland, www.lahdentaidegraafikot.fi February 2008.
 
The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, Montreal, Canada, has recently given Anne Desmet a significant award for her achievements in printmaking to date.
